MyThemeShop's WP Tabs widget. and topics Another thing you can do to increase the reach of your content organically is to set up a taxonomy. This often appears as categories and tags on your website. This is a work in progress at CMI, and we're doing a lot of work on the backend that you don't see yet. The goal is to allow readers to view related content through breadcrumbs and other pages, expanding the scope of what we have. This conversation could easily be a post on its own, but if you're starting down this path, figure out the 5-7 main topic areas that the editors will cover. Ideal if these areas do not overlap. Although this does not appear on our site yet, we use the following categories to organize our content: high level strategy
Editorial process and team Create content Distribution and promotion Measurement and reporting trends and research General success tips These topics cover steps in the content marketing process, as well as two non-process categories. As such, Special Database these categories also serve as additional checkpoints to ensure that we cover topics with editorial fidelity (i.e., if a topic does not fit into one of these categories, why should it ) editorial outreach Lisa Dougherty, who manages our blog, is a master of personal outreach. Each idea below is taken directly from how she works with authors (mentioned in our posts) and team members. Send a preview of your blog post to the author Lisa sends previews of upcoming articles to blog authors about a week before their scheduled publication. This not only allows authors to make last-minute corrections if needed, but also allows them to easily share their posts.

Click to Tweet post-email-preview-example Lisa also follows up with each author after their first comment on the blog with a reminder when the post is published.
